Important Announcement:
A Pause with Purpose for Our Open Closet Initiative

Dear Brooklyn WATE Community,
After deep reflection and with immense gratitude for all the support we've received, we have made the heartfelt decision to temporarily pause our Open Closet Initiative. We understand how impactful this program has been—whether you’ve donated gently used clothing to declutter your space or received items that brought dignity, comfort, and care. Open Closet has always been about more than clothing. It’s been about connection, community, and compassion.
This pause is not a goodbye. It’s a thoughtful moment to step back, reassess, and explore sustainable ways to grow this initiative—while also honoring the time, energy, and resources it takes to serve our community with excellence and care. We encourage you, during this time, to continue giving directly to those around you who are in need. Be intentional. Share from the heart. Avoid agencies that resell donated goods, and instead support the hands and homes that truly benefit from your generosity.
Brooklyn WATE remains active. While some of our programming will be limited, we will continue to host educational workshops and collaborate with other organizations to support our neighbors. Our mission has not changed—we are here to serve, to uplift, and to empower. Thank you for standing with us, for believing in our work, and for being part of this beautiful movement of service and sisterhood.
We’ll see you again soon—with full hearts and full racks.
With love and in service,
Team Brooklyn WATE
