Who Are We Voting For?
We’re voting for some MAJOR leadership roles and decisions that impact our daily lives
Mayor of New York City – Sets the vision for our city, oversees all departments, and drives decisions on public safety, education, housing, and more.
Brooklyn Borough President – Advocates for our borough, brings in funding, and makes sure Brooklyn’s voice is heard at City Hall.
Public Advocate – Investigates complaints about city services and holds city agencies accountable for fair and equitable treatment.
Comptroller – Manages NYC’s budget, audits agencies, and protects how our tax dollars are spent.
City Council Members – Create and vote on local laws that directly affect Brooklyn neighborhoods—from rent regulations to sanitation, education, and policing.
Budget Proposals – Decide how and where NYC spends its money — including programs that serve our youth, families, seniors, schools, and housing.
What Are Budget Proposals?
When YOU vote, you’re choosing the people who help shape priorities.

A budget proposal is basically NYC’s financial plan.
It outlines how the city plans to spend public money — your tax dollars — on services like housing, schools, sanitation, healthcare, safety, and more.
Every year, city officials (including the Mayor and City Council) propose and vote on this plan. These decisions affect:
-
🏫 School and youth programming
-
🏘️ Housing developments and affordability
-
🧠 Mental health and public health services
-
🛠️ Street repairs, trash pickup, and transit
-
🎨 Parks, libraries, arts, and community centers
The budget is a blueprint for what matters — and what doesn’t.
