Black Women Teach
Subject Training by Us for Us.
An African Proverb, each one, teach one" was derived during a time when education was limited and unavailable to everyone. The thought was that if one learned something then it was taught to another and so forth. Black Women Teach wants experts in ANY field to share what they know. Steel sharpens steel. If you are interested in being one who teaches sign up. Interested in learning take the survey.
Black Women Teach Presents:
One Click Closer to Silver & Savvy
Technology Education Series for Seniors
Technology is meant to connect us to our families, our health providers, our finances, and the world around us. But for many seniors in our Brooklyn communities, it has become a barrier instead of a bridge.
Under our Black Women Teach initiative, One Click Closer to Silver & Savvy is Brooklyn WATE’s Technology 101 workshop designed specifically for older adults of all genders who want to feel more confident and capable using everyday digital tools.
This workshop breaks down the basics in a supportive, patient, and judgment-free space. Sessions cover:
-
Understanding the keyboard and basic typing skills
-
iPhone vs. Android: what’s the difference and how to navigate each
-
Managing passwords safely
-
Introduction to social media
-
Sending emails and text messages
-
Basic safety tips to avoid scams
Our goal is simple: reduce digital isolation and increase digital confidence.
We are witnessing a growing gap where seniors struggle to access telehealth appointments, communicate with family, manage online accounts, and participate in a world that is increasingly digital. Through women-led instruction rooted in community, culture, and care, Black Women Teach works to close that gap with practical, hands-on learning.
Technology should not exclude our elders. It should empower them.
We invite seniors, caregivers, and community members to join us as we build confidence — one click at a time.

In the meantime, take our Interest Survey, and tell us how comfortable you are with technology. Then Sign Up and let us know that you are ready to begin this March.
